When the Olympic Games are described, the first believed that leaps into most individuals thoughts often moves around the sportsmen or the locations. Naturally, perhaps, no one really believes of the car market.
However, believe it or not, the car creators have performed an important part at the most famous ball game, and not just by being formal support partners! Actually, some are even accountable for buying a few silver awards.
So, without further ado, here's our little record on the automatic organizations that have, over the decades, 'participated' in the Olympics.
Lotus 108
You'd usually affiliate Lotus with compact activities vehicles, but thanks to a relationship to another Norfolk-based technological innovation tale - a guy known as Scott Burrows - it performed a critical part in the tale of this innovative rushing bike.
In the delayed 80's, Burrows had been playing with the concept of a competitors bike that was created out of graphite, but shelved the concept when the Worldwide Bicycling Nation considered it unlawful. A few decades later, though, the ban was put, which soon got the motorcycle's growth up and operating.
Thanks to a buddy of Burrows who proved helpful at Lotus, Lotus Engineering became engaged, where their skills in the use of carbon-fibre (there was still a Lotus F1 group back in those days, after all!) created sure the completed growth was prepared for the 1992 Olympics.
Colin Chapman Lotus Bike
And by golly, did it put up a good show! Not only did it end up successful a silver honor during the 4000m competitors with Chelsea Boardman on the seat (the first English honor for riding a bike in over 70 years), but it also set a new world a few months span, at just over 4 moments 24 a few moments.
Long tale brief, it was a greatly important rushing bike. With the introduction of the Lotus 108, personal search motorbikes would never be the same again.
Team Volvo Sailing
Unlike the brand new Lotus, this automobile project into the 'oLympics is simply for support requirements only. But don't be put off by that, as the Team Volvo boating projects have led to many medallions for England over the decades.
